When I started this blog in 2006, I had just moved after losing my father and my son. My husband took a job closer to my parents' hometown making us much more available should she need us as we had promised my father that we would be there for her-a promise we intended to keep. Not a completely selfless move-I needed her, too, after the loss of my boy.
The original intent of this blog was to showcase my scrap booking work-I wanted desperately to break into the world of scrap-booking artists and thought that if I had a blog, I might get noticed. Not being an aggressive or even assertive person and feeling insecure, I did little to promote my blog and was defeated by some early attempts to get published.
My blog evolved and changed-it became a place to post my creative life and share my private life with family and friends. It became a place to write about what I was feeling or thinking. If two people read it in a day, I was pleased.
Early on, I started on off shoot called A Sentimental Soul; Soul Paintings. This is where I posted some of the journaling I did on the pages I displayed as I realized not everyone is interested in reading a long post...but that didn't last long.
Last spring, after having moved in with my aging mother to tend to her daily needs, I started making cards. They were small and a bit more portable than my scrap book work. I joined a group in April and was so tickled with how warm and friendly my fellow paper crafters were that I kept going back. Early in my adventures in social networking, I learned about Digi stamps and became seriously interested in these Copics that everyone was talking about.
My random blogging has turned into a card maker's blog---oh, but I do so love to write about other things, too. This evening, while talking to one of my new friends on the phone, I was introduced to a blog called, A Tea Party for My Mother-the journey of a woman, my age, who is living with her aging mother. Her journey is the same a mine, but different. Her feelings are the same as mine, but different. So, I shall resurrect A Sentimental Soul, and this is where I shall write about my journey of love, living, and dying.
I'm so impressed, Ann, reading this!
Hugs, Alina
